PONDEROSA PINE
Mature trees have a very thick pale yellow sapwood, soft, non-resinous and uniform and texture. The heartwood is orange to reddish-brown, with prominent dark brown resin duct lines on longitudinal surfaces. It is considerably heavier than the sapwood. The wood is used for furniture and cabinet making, paneling, windows and doors.
RED OAK
Red Oak heartwood varies from biscuit-pinkish to reddish-brown. The grain is usually straight. Northern Red Oak grows comparatively slowly. When quartersawn a beautiful ray fleck figure is produced. Red Oak is widely used for flooring, furniture and paneling.
WHITE OAK
White Oak sapwood is lighter than the heartwood, which is light tan or yellow-brown, usually straight grained, but often irregular or cross-grained. It has a characteristic silver-grained figure on quartered surfaces because of broad rays and a moderately coarse texture. White Oak is used in furniture, cabinet making, flooring and paneling. Also widely used in cooperage for whisky, sherry and brandy casks.
BIRCH
The light yellow sapwood is distinct from the heartwood, which is reddish-brown, with growth rings marked with dark reddish-brown lines. This is a straight grained wood with a fine, even texture. Timeless Timber Birch is referred to as Red Birch due to the large red heart even though the species is Yellow Birch. Birch is used for furniture, musical instruments, flooring, paneling and butcher block countertops. A percentage of logs produce a beautiful figure called Flame Birch which adds a unique highlight to any application.

MAPLE
The wood is creamy-white with a reddish tinge, sometimes with a dark brown heart. It is usually straight grained but often curly or wavy, with fine brown lines marking the growth rings on plain-sawn surfaces. The texture is even, fine and lustrous. Pith flecks are sometimes present. Selected logs produce birdseye, curly and blistered figures which are highly prized by furniture and musical instrument makers. Widely used where high strength and beauty is required: in furniture, flooring, cabinetry, butcher blocks and musical instruments.

BEECH
The timber is very pale cream to pinkish-brown. It is typically straight grained with broad rays, and has a fine, even texture. When quartersawn the wood displays a beautiful ray fleck figure. Beech is used in furniture making, flooring and paneling. It is well suited for turning and is widely used for tool handles.
